Renewable Electricity

Article 25 (4) the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), requires ‘credits’ (i.e. RTFO Certs) to be awarded to economic operators that supply renewable electricity to EVs via public recharging points. 

 

NORA and the Department of Transport are currently investigating how this requirement will be implemented.  A draft high-level plan for how the system could operate was presented to charge point operators (CPOs) in 2024.

Subject to the enabling legislation being published, NORA will award RTFO Certs to CPOs that can provide verifiable data on renewable electricity supply via public charge points.  Further updates will be provided as the approach is refined and the legislation is drafted.
